Three ways I work

Most people start with talking. If it fits, we add the body, or the parts of you that pull in different directions. You choose, and you can change your mind.

  • Talking, together

For adults who are hard on themselves: people who hold high standards for everyone else and rarely feel they have met their own. Sessions are conversations. We follow what matters that week and notice how old patterns show up in your life and in the room. The method is relational talk therapy. It is not advice-giving or a skills class, though we can add skills when you ask.

    • 50 minutes, in person or by video

    • We set the pace together; there is no promised number of sessions

    • Paid as described under how fees work

  • Through the body

For when what you carry is felt more than said. We use EMDR, a structured therapy in which you recall something in small steps while following a guided movement or tapping, and slow attention to breath and sensation. These can stir strong feelings, so I explain the risks and what each asks of you before you decide. It is not hypnosis, and we do not use touch.

    • Preparation comes first, to practice settling

    • You choose what to work on and what to leave alone

    • Any exercise can be left out

  • Parts of you

For the inner critic and the other voices that pull you in different directions. Parts work, informed by Internal Family Systems, treats each one as a part of you with its own reasons and gets to know it with curiosity instead of judgment. It is a way of talking about yourself, not a diagnosis, and not a replacement for medical care.

    • Talking, and sometimes imagery you choose

    • Nothing is pushed on you

    • You can stop or switch at any time

Questions about the work

01Do I have to choose one way of working?

No. Most people begin with talking, and we only add the body or parts work if you want it. You can change your mind at any point.

02How long will this take?

I do not promise a number of sessions. We set the pace together and check it often, and you can pause or stop whenever you like.

03What does it cost?

Your fee is given to you in writing before you book. How fees work explains insurance, receipts and estimates.
