The quiet work of becoming yourself.

Therapy for adults who are hard on themselves. A slower, kinder way to look at old patterns, with someone who listens closely and lets you set the pace.

Waves roll in under a hazy orange sky with hills behind
Snowy mountains and pine forest reflected in a still lake at dawn
A misty lake at sunrise with pine trees reflected in golden water
A calm river reflects trees and white clouds under a blue sky
A mountain reflected in a clear lake with rocks in the foreground at sunset

“She never hurried me, and she never made me feel I had to explain myself twice.”

I believe in the power of being witnessed.

I'm Dr. Michele Clanton, a licensed psychologist. I work with adults who are hard on themselves: people who hold high standards for everyone else and rarely feel they have met their own.

My approach is relational. We talk, we notice patterns as they show up in the room, and we go at a pace you can keep. When it fits, I also offer body-based and parts-based work, and I explain what each asks of you and what it can stir up before you decide.

I started Murmur Therapy to make room for slow, unhurried work. Not fixing. Becoming.

Three ways I work

Most people start with talking. If it fits, we can add the body, or the parts of you that pull in different directions. You decide, and you can change your mind.

  • A cream sofa piled with colorful cushions and a sheepskin against a white wall

    Talking, together

Relational therapy for adults who are hard on themselves. We look at how old patterns show up in your life and in the room, and we go at the pace you set.

  • A tall window framed by brown curtains in a dark green room

    Through the body

Some of what we carry is felt more than said. With EMDR or slow attention to breath and sensation, always by your invitation. I explain the risks before you decide.

  • A home office desk with a laptop and a small cactus beside a window, seen past a doorframe

    Parts of you

Getting to know the inner critic and the other voices that pull you in different directions, with curiosity instead of judgment. The work is informed by Internal Family Systems.

A Depth Approach

I work in the quiet spaces, where what is unspoken matters as much as what is said. My practice honors the complexity of your inner world and trusts that change takes the time it takes.

  • Depth

We go beneath the surface, at a pace you can keep.

  • Presence

Full, unhurried attention to what's alive in the room.

  • Honesty

Gentle truth-telling that honors your readiness.

How We Begin

A clear, human path into the work.

  • 01

    Reach out

Write to me through the form or call. Ask any question before you book anything.

  • 02

    A first session

Fifty minutes. We talk about what you want, what pace feels right and what you would rather leave alone for now.

  • 03

    A rhythm we choose

Many people meet weekly at first. I do not promise a number of sessions; we set the rhythm together and check it often.

  • 04

    Changing as you change

We can adjust how often we meet, or pause. The door stays open. This is not about graduating; it is about what you need.

In their words

  • “She asks before going anywhere new, and she lets me say no. That made it easier to say more.”

    Suha N.
  • “The pace was mine. Some weeks we talked about almost nothing, and that was allowed.”

    Macy B.
  • “Sessions start and end calmly. I never felt hurried out of the door.”

    Jody F.
